Kilo Ziro is the UK's first zero-waste café bar and refill taproom, created by the team behind award-winning shop The Clean Kilo. This page explains how our self-service drinks wall works before your first visit to Kilo Ziro in Digbeth.
Instead of single-use glass bottles behind the bar, most of our wine, fizz, beer and cider is stored in returnable kegs. You pour your own drinks from taps on the wall, pay for the volume you take, and we send empty kegs back to producers for refilling. That cuts packaging waste and transport weight compared with conventional bottled drinks.
Organic, natural and biodynamic wines from small producers in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal arrive in 20.5 litre kegs. Staff can help you choose, then you dispense by the glass, in taster measures, or into a bottle to take home. Bring your own clean bottle or buy one in venue, and return it on your next visit for another fill. The range changes often, so there is always something new to try. See current pours on our drinks menus, or book a guided wine and cheese pairing through Yuup.
Local craft beers and ciders are served from stainless-steel kegs. Pints stay fresh, support independent Midlands brewers, and avoid the waste from disposable packaging. Ask the team what is on that week if you want a recommendation.
1. Check opening hours (we are open Friday to Sunday). Walk-ins are welcome, and we recommend booking for groups of six or more.
2. Choose wine, beer, cider, coffee, food or an experience from the wall or menu.
3. For wine to take home, use a clean bottle with a secure lid. We can advise on volumes and prices at the bar.
4. Pair drinks with cheese boards, afternoon tea or events listed on our experiences page.
Returnable kegs can remove most of the carbon tied to manufacturing and shipping new glass for every pour. Combined with local suppliers and low-waste cocktails, the taproom is built to show that a night out in Birmingham can still be special while producing less rubbish.
